A Nigerian migrant (identity hidden) was placed in a Libyan detention centre as an illegal migrant for two years and six months where he suffered torture, solitary confinement, was given no medical treatment or access to a lawyer, and received basic food and water. .Since the uprising inside Libya, inmates from detention centres have been released, or been able to escape.
